Festival workshop: Using Cinematic Techniques to Improve your Poetry

Festival workshop: Using Cinematic Techniques to Improve your Poetry

Derek Adams will lead a workshop on Using Cinematic Techniques to Improve your Poetry at the 4th Festival of Suffolk Poetry.

Derek says: "We are always being told show don't tell, film directors are experts at telling stories by showing, so what can we learn from them to improve our poetry? In this workshop we will look at techniques used by film-makers and use writing exercises based on them to write poems".

Derek Adams is an award winning photographer and a very fine poet who is closely associated with the Essex Poetry Festival. He has also put his name forward as a trustee of Suffolk Poetry Society, so you are likely to become much more familiar with him.

The workshop will run from 10:00-12:30 at the festival on 27th May 2017, John Peel Centre, Stowmarket, IP14 1ET.

Tickets will be available later, but you can book a place on this workshop by emailing the Festival Director: festival@suffolkpoetrysociety.org.uk.
